Lechmere, a New England electronics and home goods retail sales chain had an interesting concept. Their executives speculated that customers might like the convenience of shopping and managing their financial transactions on line.
In the early 1990s, long before the rest of the industry, Siemens designed and deployed a PC based system with touch screen, credit card reader, printer, multiple media graphics and sound, interactive system.
